Frequently Asked Questions
Why did you decide to leave Ameriprise?
We evaluate our business in much the same way we analyze your personal finances. After reviewing our business, we decided that moving to an independent broker/dealer made a lot of sense for both clients and our team. We wanted to be more nimble, advice focused and provide a higher level service for our clients. In short, we want to spend our time focused on your needs. This was purely a business decision and we are sad to leave behind some great relationships with other advisors and staff.
Why didn't you tell me you were moving?
Unfortunately, we were prohibited from telling clients about our move until we completed the process. This is standard practice in the industry to protect advisors and firms from any mixed signals with clients. Our desire is to help you transition with us as soon as possible. We will be calling you to schedule a time to discuss and move your accounts so we can continue our relationship.
Is the whole team moving?
Yes, our whole team is moving and the leadership team will be formalized with Mark Nortman as CEO, Matt Wiens as CFO, and Erica Briggs as COO.
What's changing for clients?
Not that much and yet quite a bit. Clients will be minimally impacted by our move except for updating our new contact information and visiting us in a new location. We will still be reachable at all times via email, phone or in person if you need service. Changes that will take place include:
- a dedicated person always answering your call between 8:30 – 5:00 pm
- technology enhancements including the ability to see all of your accounts with us and externally (401k, checking, home value, other property, etc.) on one website that is updated daily
- a customized website with personal commentary from Matt and Mark on a regular basis
- and much, much more!

Where will you be located?
We are currently renovating a permanent location in the same general vicinity as our old office and will be holding meetings at an executive office space in the Lincoln Tower on the 4th floor. This temporary space is in the same complex as our old office and is recognizable as the tallest of the buildings on site. Due to the amount of meetings we will be holding to help clients transition we will be available in person by appointment only until our permanent location is ready.
Who will be in charge of my accounts now that you've moved?
Your accounts will be reassigned to a another broker. This unfortunately is standard practice and we have no control over it. Please be prepared for a call from the new broker in charge of your accounts. We encourage you to tell the person that you are moving with our team to the new firm and that you don't wish to be contacted anymore. We will help you expedite the transfer of your accounts.
What can I do to move my accounts with you to the new firm quickly?
We will be calling you to discuss any questions you have about our move or new firm. Once you are comfortable, we will meet for 30 minutes to complete the account transfer paperwork and set you up on our new state of the art systems. Please bring a copy of your statement to the meeting so we can begin the transfer process. While the accounts are transferring we will continue to provide oversight of your assets and contact you as needed.
